Jamaica to Achieve Self-Sufficiency in Irish Potato Production This Year

The country is on target to be self-sufficient in the production of table Irish potato by the end of 2015.

Korean Embassy donates 270 computers to the JAS

The Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) has received a donation of 270 sets of desktop computers from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea. Born out of an agreement that all computers were exclusively for donation purposes, the JAS is proud to accept the donation from the Korean private sector, through the Korean Government, on behalf of our farmers, their families and the community.

In this our 119th year, the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) reaffirms its commitment to foster domestic agricultural production through best practices and efficiencies in output and distribution and developing good marketing know-how for our farmers’ produce. As President of the JAS, I promise, along with the other members of the Board of Management, to continue the transformation of the JAS to ensure that the farmers, and by extension the agriculture sector, continue to contribute to the development of Jamaica’s economy and advancing the agenda for rural development and a better quality of life for the rural citizenry.
